What is a Microsoft Stock Split?

A Microsoft stock split is when Microsoft, or a public company, decides to increase the number of its outstanding shares to boost stock liquidity. The company achieves this by dividing its stock into multiple shares. While the number of shares is increasing the company’s total market capitalization does not change.

Let’s say you had a pizza already split up into 8 slices and then you decided to split it up into 16 slices. You still have the same amount of total pizza just with more slices.
